Friday Mandela – School Recycler

At just 16 years old, Friday Mandela looked at her school’s overflowing bins and saw a wasted opportunity. She learned that much of the plastic, paper, and glass could be recycled, generating a small income for the school and a big impact for the planet. Friday launched a student-led campaign, “Friday’s Green Mission,” and designed a new recycling system with clear sorting bins. She led workshops, educated her peers, and worked with the administration to sell the recyclables. Thanks to her efforts, her school is now a leader in sustainability, and a small part of the planet is a little cleaner.
